This work was inspired by a quilling artist (sunandmoonkid) and my husband's family's love for all things Japanese. I managed to take some process photos, starting with quilling of the fish. It took me so long to do, only because I got really bored of putting in the little white scales in the fish. The rest of the project was fun. I liked making different tiny flowers.
After the fish were made, it was time to glue them to the wooden tray. The fish are meant to be somewhat on their side. I don't think the perspective worked out as well as I had hoped. Time to accept life is a process and move on. Always learn, always move forward!
Finally, came the resin. Right now it is winter in Rhode Island and I was working in our sunroom. It is cold here. Resin is supposed to be mixed and worked with in +75 F. Attempting to do this, I use my tiny space heater. I got up to 70 F and decided that was good enough. You can see it in the corner on top of my freezer chest. So far it seems like working with the resin was fine. The resin has set and the tray looks beautiful.
