My most recent craft obsession has become quilling! This is where you take thin strips of paper and glue them together or to a piece of paper. Often you twist the paper around a stick to make them curl and shape the paper into different forms.
I was really inspired by another artist who I found on pinterest. The pinterest images lead me to his Instagram account is https://www.instagram.com/sunandmoonkid/.
I loved how the sunandmoonkid used sea creatures with geometric shapes and played with changing colors when an object crossed a boundary. So that is what I was trying to recreate.
I chose a whale whose tail had breached the surface. I used the dark blue and white to denote the two different environments of the sea and air. I also wanted to add something geometric. I played around with several ideas, including shapes that totally surrounded the whale. In the end I decided on circles and triangles that intersect. The placement and size of the geometric shape really led me to think of a sunset. So that idea stuck and I that is what I created.
Any interesting ideas for a quilling project let me know! I am always looking for inspiration.
Thought I would include my photography helper, Thor. I figure the god of thunder might know a few things about lighting. I'm still learning and experimenting so I take any help I can get.
